BioI grew up on a farm on the south-eastern outskirts of the Murray-Darling Basin catchment at a place called Jerangle. Named after the creek that runs through the farm (Danswell Creek), I spent my formative years wading up and down the creek in summer, chasing rainbow trout, mountain galaxias, yabbies and a single Murray River crayfish. After attending Jerangle Primary School, I moved to Canberra for high school. After 3 years at Calwell High School, I attended Lake Tuggeranong College. In 2004 I started a Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Science Degree at ANU. In 2010 I started a PhD at ANU, which I completed in 2014. I currently work for the ACT Government as Water Science, Monitoring and Modelling Manager, as well as running my own statistical consulting business. I am currently a visiting fellow at ANU in the Research School of Biology.
I am passionate about my work, but I do have hobbies and interests beyond the world of ecological research. |
Fishing |
I caught my first rainbow trout when I was 8 years old, and have been 'hooked' ever since. I have caught Murray cod, golden perch, trout and carp (sadly) from many of the waterways in the ACT. Unfortunately, except for one very unlucky kingfish (pictured), I have not had similar success in the marine realm. |
Cars |
I am currently building a 1987 Toyota MR2. Not just your standard 1.6L naturally aspirated motor though... Currently its running a T28BB turbo, Subaru Liberty water-to-air intercooler, coil-on-plug ignition and Adaptronic ECU. Goal is for ~160Kw at the rear wheels. One day it will leave the garage. One day. |
